Hi everyone, for my first blog post I wanted to publish something that was close to my heart. In 2020 I was over joyed to become a first time mummy to my son Oliver. Knowing the amazing benefits of having a prenatal massage it was lovely to be on the receiving end for a change of such a beneficial and truly relaxing treatment during pregnancy. In this blog I wanted to tell you a little bit more about myself and what I would say are my top 5 reasons for having this wonderful treatment.

Having been a therapist for at least 15 years I have treated 100's of pregnant clients in my time and have a wealth of expertise in this area of massage. My background also includes training for top skincare brands Decleor & Caudalie. I have given my expertise to other therapists in some of the most luxury spas in the country on the benefits and best techniques for massaging pregnant clients.
Pregnancy is a special and exciting time. A Pregnancy Massage has many benefits to prepare you for your new arrival. It is far from what some would call just a 'luxury' but more of a necessity. Women’s bodies are nothing short of incredible. From the very second the egg is fertilised we become this amazing machine that looks after and helps our developing baby grow. Here are my reasons to book in for one of my gorgeous and relaxing pregnancy massages during this wonderful time in your life:

1) Massage naturally encourages that beautiful connection between mother and baby and
helps to reduce stress hormones and anxiety. It can also increase the release of endorphins and oxytocin, ‘The Love Hormone’, which is highly beneficial for both you and your baby. bringing about a feeling of increased relaxation and calmness and allows space for the mother to be calm and focused.
2) Massage is also amazing at helping to reduce water retention 'Oedema' which is at an all time high during pregnancy. I will never forget those 'cankles' I was graced with in the third trimester. Swollen ankles are a normal, though frustrating, for many mamas-to-be. During pregnancy, the extra fluid in the body and the pressure from the growing uterus can cause swelling in the ankles and feet. A pregnancy massage can help to drain any excess fluid in the body and around the ankles giving some much needed relief and alleviate any pain through lymphatic drainage and helping to drain toxins from the body.
3) Perfect to ease aches and pains from leg cramps, back tension and sciatica that can also run riot during Pregnancy. A massage can help loosen tight muscles and tension in the body. Carrying all that extra weight can sometimes cause quite a bit of back pain. A Prenatal massage is the ideal treatment for this to ease all those annoying aches and pains.
4) Improved sleep due to feeling less muscle tension and generally less uncomfortable and helps to ease headaches which can also be a common occurrence during pregnancy.
5) And on a last note a pregnancy massage just lets you switch off from the outside world and - let's admit it - we all live busy lives. I know myself, sometimes it can be difficult to switch off. Having a massage lets you focus and be at one with that tiny human growing inside of you. It helps to remove yourself from your busy day-to-day life, close down your thoughts and just be in the moment.
